CMR-XP™ is an acronym for Chiyoda Mixed Refrigerate eXPort. The technology is specifically designed to refrigerate any hydrocarbon product for atmospheric storage (or near atmospheric storage) and is ideally suited for cryogenic temperatures (colder than -50°F). The technology utilized single mixed refrigerant (SMR) technology in a closed-loop, single-cycle, mixed refrigerant system which is heavily utilized in the production of LNG. The fundamentals of the process are rooted in a simplistic design which inherently leads to less piping, fewer controls, and a lower equipment count than competitive technologies while providing an efficient refrigeration process.
Chiyoda has a pre-engineered, skid mounted, 50 mt/hr and 100 mt/hr units which are ideally suited for the refrigeration of ethane and/or ethylene. The systems are designed as a “plug and play” stand-alone unit which can be easily integrated into an existing facility or achieve optimum timing for a new grassroots facility.
Chiyoda’s team wrote a technical paper published in Hydrocarbon Processing in January 2018.

Cryogenic Application on Gas Processing
Chiyoda has the accumulated knowledge on the application of cryogenic technologies through its 40+ years of LNG project experience. Chiyoda extended that application to support the midstream clients exporting their products in the form of ethylene and ethane.
Chiyoda completed a process study (multiple phases) for a 50 mt/hr ethylene loading facility in Texas. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the existing facility and propose methods to increase overall capacity while staying within the confides of the existing facility and utilities.
