Piping Designers are skilled in the layout and development of equipment arrangements and piping layouts for process industries. The principal function of the piping designer includes the conceptual, preliminary, and final development of process unit plot plans; routing of major above and below-grade piping systems; and the layout of equipment and its associated infrastructure. Piping designers implement project piping, material class, industry, and pipe support specifications into the final design. They utilize specialized design software to generate 3D models of piping, equipment, & structural components; piping design deliverables are based on this 3D model. Deliverables include plot plans, piping plans, and piping isometrics and they convey the information necessary so that Construction can adequately fabricate, erect, and install plant equipment, piping, and necessary infrastructure.
