About the Project
This project will convert the existing LNG receiving facilities, owned and operated by Cameron LNG, LLC, to a new natural gas liquefaction plant with a capacity of 13.5 million tons a year (4.5 million tons x 3 trains) and export facilities.
Mitsubishi Corporation, Mitsui & Co. and GDF Suez will liquefy and export natural gas with annual production of 4 million tons each year with Cameron LNG, LLC to satisfy the demand for emerging Asian markets, primarily in Japan.
Chiyoda, the contractor for approximately 40% of the production volume of the world LNG plants, is in charge of engineering, procurement and construction of this natural gas liquefaction plant and export facilities.
Currently, Japan imports most of LNG from Oceania, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, and by importing LNG from the United States, Japan will diversify its suppliers to stably secure energy resources.
